
This two-day academic event sought to explore how Islamic law—a crucial aspect of Islamic studies—operates in contemporary times. The Maqasid Institute’s executive director, Dr. Zaid Jamal Albarzinji, renowned Islamic lecturer, Dr. Jasser Auda, and Engr. Ossama Al-Azzonouni, head of the International Center for Social Research, Peace, and Development (ICSRPD), facilitated the event’s lectures.
The UP Institute of Islamic Studies’ faculty members, which includes Prof. Julkipli Wadi, Asst. Prof. Darwin Absari, Dr. Carmen Abubakar, Dr. Nefertari Arsad, Asst. Prof. Alzad Sattar, Assoc. Prof. Macrina Morados, and Ms. Maharlika Alonto were also present and provided insightful commentaries. The lectures and discussions were synthesized by Dr. Arsad (day 1) and Asst. Prof. Sattar (day 2).
The lecture-workshop was organized by UPIIS in partnership with Maqasid Institute, and International Center for Social Research, Peace and Development-Philippines.
