Arabic Language Proficiency Exam (ALPE)

The ALPE is given to enrolled Master in Islamic Studies students who wish to have their knowledge and skills in the Arabic language assessed by an expert Arabic Instructor. Passing the ALPE will prove their mastery of the language and will exempt them from taking the required Arabic Language courses.

Application Procedure:

  1. Check ALPE announcement
  2. Secure ALPE form from the Office of the College Secretary or IIS website
  3. Submit ALPE form to the Office of College Secretary and pay through the UP Cash Office
  4. Submit a copy of the receipt at the Office of the College Secretary though email at iis@up.edu.ph
  5. Wait for the scheduled ALPE

Translation Services (Arabic, English, Filipino and Other Philippine Muslim Languages)

Refers to the translation of books or documents such as passports, marriage certificates, and other documents from Arabic to English, Arabic to Filipino, Arabic to other Philippine Muslim languages and vice versa.

Procedure:

  1. Download/access and accomplish the request form from the IIS website
  2. Submit the request form with the attached document/s to be translated through the IIS email at iis@up.edu.ph
  3. Await a copy of the service agreement from IIS stating the duration of work, required fees, and assigned translator.
  4. If approved, pay the required fee at the Research Publication and Extension Division (RPED)
  5. Await translated output to be sent via email.

Islamic Rituals

Refers to Islamic rituals such as Islamic sermon (Khutbah), marriage (Nikah), birth ritual (Agigah or Paggunting), and conversion (Pagbalik-Islam) officiated by some IIS faculty members.

Procedure:

  1. Submit a letter of request through the IIS email at iis@up.edu.ph
  2. Access and accomplish the request form through the IIS website
  3. Await confirmation from the IIS RPED staff.

Islamic Lectures, Fora, Workshops, Training and Seminars

Refers to invitations addressed to IIS faculty members and REPS to serve as Resource Persons or Experts in Islamic lectures, fora, workshops, training, and seminars.

Procedure:

  1. Submit a letter of request through the IIS email at iis@up.edu.ph
  2. Access and accomplish the request form through the IIS website
  3. Await confirmation from the IIS RPED staff.

Islamic Consultancy

Refers to consultancy services requested from IIS faculty members and REPS. This may include interviews for documentary films, news outlets, or research studies as well as consultancy services on topics related to Shari’ah and other Islamic/Muslim concerns.

Procedure:

  1. Submit a letter of request through the IIS email at iis@up.edu.ph
  2. Access and accomplish the request form through the IIS website
  3. Await confirmation from the IIS RPED staff.
