Institute of Islamic Studies, University of the Philippines-Diliman

UPCOMING FACILITIES

Romulo Hall housed the Institute of Islamic Studies as part of the old PCAS, the Philippines Center for Advanced Studies since the 70s. It was declared unsafe in 2018 and IIS had to be temporarily transferred to ISSI and SURP and hold classes in various units at UP Diliman.

The New Institute of Islamic Studies Complex is the realization of a long-awaited dream of IIS faculty, staff, REPs, and students — to have a “home” of their own at the University of the Philippines in Diliman.

The new IIS Complex is expected to usher into new heights UP as a premier institution of higher learning engaged in the study of Islam as a faith tradition and civilization. It strengthens UP’s vision of promoting excellence, honor, service, and harmony with both Muslim and non-Muslim students in the campus.

It will be a 3-storey building with the following facilities and amenities: spacious lobby, dining halls, library, mini museum, student lounge, student org office, male prayer room, female prayer room, admin office, college secretary office, Dean’s office, guest rooms, Arabic speech lab, research, publication, and extension dept. office, faculty room, lounge, classrooms, thesis room, multipurpose hall, mini auditorium, and storage room.
